British Formula 3

The UK's leading single-seater championship attracts young drivers from all over the world and many of its champions have gone on to become stars of Formula One - including Ayrton Senna, Sir Jackie Stewart, Mika Häkkinen and current drivers Rubens Barrichello and Takuma Sato.

There are two classes in the series, International (previously Championship) and National, with all drivers competing together in the same races. Competitors can use any eligible chassis: currently these are supplied mainly by Dallara and Mygale. Engines, which produce around 210bhp, are by Mercedes and Mugen Honda. The National Class uses an older generation of chassis - this year all Dallaras - with identical Mugen Honda engines.

The 2008 calendar has 11 events, eight in the UK and three abroad, each featuring two 30-minute races. A champion will be crowned in each class, and there will also be awards for the top team and the rookie of the year.
