Stefan to race in British Formula 3 in 2008

16 February 2008

Stefan has signed a deal with Fluid Motorsport Development to race in the British F3 International Series for the 2008 season. After a highly successful first year of car racing in Formula Palmer Audi, he is moving up to compete in the National Class of F3.

"It's great to finally have everything in place for 2008," Stefan said. "After winning the Mclaren Autosport BRDC Award in December we initially looked to secure a drive in the F3 International Class but we simply couldn't raise the funding that was needed. The National Class seemed like the best option, as I'll be competing in all the same races as the International Class with the same testing and that will provide much needed experience at this stage in my career. After finalising a deal with Fluid Motorsport Development I can say the whole team and I are feeling very confident of a successful year."

Fluid Motorsport Development competes in both UK Formula Ford and British Formula 3. The team's first venture into F3 was in 2005, when they ran one car in the National Class and scored their first race win at Monza. The following year they claimed second place in the championship, and in 2007 they expanded to two cars. The National Class uses the older generation of F3 cars, and Stefan will be driving a Dallara F307 chassis with a Mugen-Honda engine. His team-mate for 2008 is Jay Bridger, who raced for Fluid Motorsport in Formula Ford for part of last season.

After pre-season tests that begin in February, the British F3 season launches on 24 March at Oulton Park with the first of 11 events. Eight of the two-race events are at circuits around the UK, including Silverstone and Brands Hatch, while three take competitors abroad to Bucharest in Romania, and to the legendary and challenging circuits of Monza (Italy) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium).
